Document Subtotals
Document subtotals structure how line items are presented on your documents: per document type, you define the groups for which the generated document shows subtotals — for example a subtotal per tax rate.
To configure document subtotals, navigate to: Configuration > Provisioning > Document Subtotals
The overview shows one row per document type — Invoice, Order, Credit note, Credit note goodwill, Credit note warranty, Deposit invoice, Deposit invoice correction, Self-billing invoice, and Self-billing invoice correction — with the configured Subtotals item group chips. Use the edit action of a row to change the subtotal groups for that document type.
Subtotal groups
Per document type, you add one or more subtotal item groups. The following groups are available: By tax rate · By tax code · By jurisdiction type · By shipping cost · By item extra · By article number · By article number and item extra · By Canadian tax name · By debit credit · By item group · By post tax items.
Each configured group adds a level of subtotals to the item presentation of the document. For example, if you configure the document type Invoice with By tax rate and By item group, generated invoices present their line items with subtotals for each tax rate and each item group — which makes documents with many items easier to read and verify.
Custom subtotals within a group
Inside a subtotal item group, you can additionally define custom subtotals by item group, each with a Name and the Items it covers. This adds a further breakdown within the selected subtotal category: for example, if subtotals are grouped by tax rate, you could divide the items into groups such as "Spare Parts" and "Workshop Services", or "Vehicle Accessories" and "Inspection Fees" — a more detailed and structured breakdown within each subtotal section.
Subtotals are configured per document type: an invoice can present its items differently from a credit note or a self-billing invoice.
Via API
Document subtotals are configured in the webportal; there is no dedicated public API endpoint.
