Tax Provider
A tax provider is the engine that calculates the taxes for your documents: by default, the instellix tax engine calculates taxes based on the tax rules you configure — and where you need an external engine, you can assign Avalara AvaTax per country.
For example, you can let the instellix tax engine handle your European business with the tax rules you maintain yourself, and assign Avalara AvaTax for the United States. Assignments are made per country and can optionally be narrowed to a single billing group, so different parts of your business can use different providers in the same country.
instellix supports the following tax provider options. Check the respective documentation based on your business needs:
- Avalara AvaTax — connect your Avalara account and let AvaTax calculate taxes for the countries you assign to it.
- instellix Tax Service Configuration — how the built-in tax engine works as the default, and how to route individual countries to an external provider.
Note: If no tax provider is configured for a country and billing group, the instellix tax engine is used.
