Document Generation
Document Generation is the step in which a finalized document becomes an actual file: instellix renders the document data through your document template, resolves every text element in the document language, and structures the line items into the PDF your customer receives.
For example, when a billing run creates an invoice, the invoice data is rendered with your document template. Translation keys resolve headlines, labels, and text blocks in the document language, and the configured document subtotals determine how line items are grouped and summarized on the page — so the same invoice data can produce a German and an English document from one template, each structured the way you defined.
Document generation is configured in the following areas — check the respective documentation based on your needs:
- Document Templates — the layout and branding of your documents (documentation coming soon).
- Translation Management — the text elements of your documents, maintained per language, so one template serves all document languages.
- PDF Output — whether PDF files are created with or without accessibility support, and whether the default template is used.
- Document Subtotals — which subtotal groups structure the line items, configured per document type.
Which format and method is used for a specific document — for example whether an e-invoicing format such as XRechnung is created in addition to or instead of the plain PDF — is decided by the document provisioning configuration. See Document Distribution.
